Whites Mill, Ky – day 21

Today we did about 67 miles over mostly low hills and flat roads. The temperatures could not have been more pleasant, with a high is the low 70’s and sunny, with low winds.
Our first stop was at just 10 miles at the Makers Mark distiller in Loretto, Ky.

Then we were off to do some adventure road crossings after we ignored the signs about a road closure.


Then we stopped at the birthplace of Abraham Lincoln near Buffalo, Ky.




Then we made our way to the White Mills Christian Camp along the Nolin River.
I have cell service, and AT&T 4g.
Phyllis, some said these painting on the sides of barns is the family quilting symbol



We are in store for shorter days in the future.

BTW I loaded the tractor / trailer stuck picture from a few days ago – Hindman day 17. Allowed us to have a leisure walk.
This is a lot of Amish in the area, it is quite unusual for me to see horse and buggy pull up to the Dollar General, but it is the normal here.


And the farmers are busy in the fields and roads, but we were off busy truck routes.

  1. Jake, I think the decorations on the barns are hex signs (Pennsylvania Dutch folk art), which can also include quilt patterns…not sure why you’re seeing them in Kentucky.
